Graphic Novels - 9/30/2019
My familiarity with graphic novels is limited. I haven't really explored graphic novels in my own reading, but I was first introduced to graphic novels while taking college courses. I feel that graphic novels would be useful for the Secondary English Language Arts classroom because it would provide students with a different perspective of literature. While I was in elementary, middle, and high school, I never had the opportunity to read graphic novels. I am assuming that this was because graphic novels didn't tie into the common core. For instance, in most of my English classes in high school, I was required to read specific authors such as Shakespeare, which significantly differs from a graphic novel. I feel that if I was allowed to read graphic novels while in school, I would have a better familiarity with them today.
